The Beast’s Heart Review

Happy Monday Everyone!

So by now you have all heard me talk about how my favorite Disney movie is Beauty and the Beast. When I was browsing in Barns and Noble one day, I came across this retelling of Beauty and the Beast, and once I read the description I knew I had to have this book. The Beast’s Heart by Leife Shallcross, tells the story of Beauty and the Beast, but from the Beast’s point of view!

The description was taken from the Goodreads website:

“A luxuriously magical retelling of Beauty and the Beast set in seventeenth-century France–and told from the point of view of the Beast himself.

I am neither monster nor man—yet I am both.

I am the Beast.

He is a broken, wild thing, his heart’s nature exposed by his beastly form. Long ago cursed with a wretched existence, the Beast prowls the dusty hallways of his ruined château with only magical, unseen servants to keep him company—until a weary traveler disturbs his isolation.

Bewitched by the man’s dreams of his beautiful daughter, the Beast devises a plan to lure her to the château. There, Isabeau courageously exchanges her father’s life for her own and agrees to remain with the Beast for a year. But even as their time together weaves its own spell, the Beast finds winning Isabeau’s love is only the first impossible step in breaking free from the curse . . .”

This is one retelling of Beauty and the Beast, that you never knew you wanted or needed until you read it. I loved reading the story from the Beast’s point of view, because it gives the reader a closer look at who the Beast is. I will admit I always had a soft spot for the Beast, and this book made me love him more! Leife does such an amazingly, beautiful job of creating a new spin on this amazing classic without losing any of the original tale. She gives you a deeper look into the magic that surrounds the castle, and the Beast. This book had me crying, laughing, and wishing Isabeau would stop being so stubborn with everything. Any person who loves the tale of Beauty and the Beast, doesn’t need to miss this amazing read!

Take an adventure into the depth’s of the Beast’s heart!
