We have made it to the middle of the week, and are that much closer to Friday! I hope everyone’s week is going great so far! Today I am going to take another trip to Nocturne Falls, and review book number 5 in this amazing series. The Vampire’s Fake Fiancee by Kristen Painter will have you enraptured from the first paragraph.
The book description was taken from the Goodreads website:
“Welcome to Nocturne Falls, the town where Halloween is celebrated 365 days a year. The tourists think it’s all a show: the vampires, the werewolves, the witches, the occasional gargoyle flying through the sky. But the supernaturals populating the town know better.
Living in Nocturne Falls means being yourself. Fangs, fur, and all.
Sebastian Ellingham isn’t known for being a happy vampire. And when his long estranged wife comes to town expecting to pick up where they left off, things take a sharp turn toward cranky. Sure he’s been protecting her for centuries, but her assumption that he’s still available (he is) rankles.
His answer is to hire a woman to play his fiancée. The lucky victim is Tessa Blythe, sister of one of the town’s deputies, librarian in need of a job and, oh yes, reluctant Valkyrie. Playing along with Sebastian is all about the end game for her, the position of Dean of Library Studies at the local private academy.
When unexpected sparks fly between them, they agree to mutually deny the attraction. Fate, however, has other plans…”
Tessa is a Valkyrie, who doesn’t want to be one. All she wants to do is get a job as a librarian and take care of books. Sebastian is a recluse, who doesn’t really like to deal with anyone or leave his house. However, when his estranged wife comes into town, he realizes he is going to have to step out of his comfort zone and do something drastic to get his life back. When he approaches Tessa about her becoming his fake fiancee, she says no until he throws in a job that she knows she can’t turn down. When Tessa agrees to go along with his plan, they find out that it might be harder to pretend than they were prepared for, because what do you do when your feelings turn real?
The thing I love about this series is each book in it’s way is kind of like a stand alone, so you can jump around and still know what is going on. Kristen has the uncanny ability to suck the reader into Nocturne Falls, and makes you never want to leave the town. You will laugh, cry, and you will scream at the characters being stupid, but you will enjoy every turn along the way. If you love vampires, strong female characters, and a story that will leave you breathless, than you need to pick up this book as soon as possible.
Go enjoy the relationship between a reluctant Valkyrie and recluse Vampire my dears!
