Howl’s Moving Castle Review

Hey Readers!

Happy Friday everyone! We have made it to the end of another week, and although I have to work tomorrow it is still going to be an awesome weekend! Today I am going to be reviewing a book that I read after watching the movie. Howl’s Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones, and it is a tale that everyone no matter what their age is will enjoy for generations to come.

The book description was taken from the Goodreads website:

“Sophie has the great misfortune of being the eldest of three daughters, destined to fail miserably should she ever leave home to seek her fate. But when she unwittingly attracts the ire of the Witch of the Waste, Sophie finds herself under a horrid spell that transforms her into an old lady. Her only chance at breaking it lies in the ever-moving castle in the hills: the Wizard Howl’s castle. To untangle the enchantment, Sophie must handle the heartless Howl, strike a bargain with a fire demon, and meet the Witch of the Waste head-on. Along the way, she discovers that there’s far more to Howl—and herself—than first meets the eye.”

Sophie is just trying to take care of herself and her family, but when she encounters a witch, and gets a curse placed on her, she finds her life is turned upside down. She finds herself on a wild adventure trying to track down Howl to help break the curse. But what she finds when she gets there, is nothing is at it seems, and if Sophie wants her life back, and to help Howl she has to fight for it. Will Sophie be able to break the curse and return to her normal life or is she doomed to be an old lady forever?

What I really love about this story is the way Diana takes all these different variables and makes them all work together to create a magical story. This story will keep you trapped in its clutches until the very end when it decides to let you go. The movie is also pretty amazing and basically sticks to what happens in the book. However, you need to read the book because you get more emotion from the book than the movie. This book in my opinion will continue to entertain people for years and years to come. It will make you laugh, cry, and get so frustrated you want to throw it at the wall, but it is such an amazing story that you don’t want to miss it.

Go learn about Howl, and if your anything like me, you will develop a crush on him!
