Written In Red Review

I hope everyone had an amazing weekend and I hope you all have a great week this week. Today I wanted to review a book that had me hooked from the very beginning and wouldn’t let me go. Written in Red by Anne Bishop, takes the reader into a supernatural world were every supernatural creature you can think of just about is present.

The book description comes from the Goodreads website:

But when she escapes, the only safe place Meg can hide is at the Lakeside Courtyard—a business district operated by the Others.

Shape-shifter Simon Wolfgard is reluctant to hire the stranger who inquires about the Human Liaison job. First, he senses she’s keeping a secret, and second, she doesn’t smell like human prey. Yet a stronger instinct propels him to give Meg the job. And when he learns the truth about Meg and that she’s wanted by the government, he’ll have to decide if she’s worth the fight between humans and the Others that will surely follow.”

Meg takes her fate into her own hands, when she decides to escape the compound where she is being used for her gift. She leaves with barely anything and winds up in a place called Lakeside Courtyard, and decides that this is as good as place as any to hide. Simon is very weary when it comes to strangers in his town, especially people with secrets. When he hires Meg, he learns that there is more to her than what she is letting on, and once that secret is out he will have to make a choice. Does he protect Meg from the people after her or does he protect the people in his town?

What I loved about this characters is you get to see their development as the book progresses. You start to learn a lot about Meg and Simon, that you find yourself rooting for them to find their place in life. Anne takes the reader into a supernatural world, that you won’t want to come out of. She blends supernatural creatures that you know and love together and adds a couple of new supernatural beings that you never thought would exist. This book will make you laugh, cry, and cheer until the very end. Once you finish you will want to continue story, and lucky for you the majority of the books in the series are already available.
