Wild Embers: Poems of Rebellion, Fire and Beauty Review

Hello Readers!

Today I am going to review another poetry book that I loved, and made me realize that I had a fire in me that I shouldn’t let be extinguished. Wild Embers: Poems of Rebellion, Fire and Beauty by Nikita Gill, is a poetry book that is guaranteed to light the fire within you and make you realize your full potential.

The book description was taken from the Goodreads website:

“They have lightning in their souls, thunder in their hearts, chaos in their bones.

Nikita Gill’s poetry has captured hearts and minds all over the world; her inspirational words have been shared hundreds of thousands of times online, been plastered across placards on international women’s marches and even transformed into tattoos. This collection will showcase mostly unseen poetry and prose, delving into ideas about passion, identity, empowerment and femininity.”

This book of poetry helped me realize a lot about myself and helped me when I was going through a rough patch. All the poems that I have read by Nikita has in some way connected with me, and to me that is the best kind of poetry. As you read her poems you will start to feel a shit within you and it will help you realize that once you light your fire you can do anything you set your mind to!

Here is one of the poems that Nikita has written for this book titled Forgiveness:

“Forgive yourself for everything you broke when you were trying to survive. Let the rain wash away your regret. Let your blood cool from the rage you feel against yourself. Let the rivers under your skin bring you home. To heal you must forgive your heart, your skin, your body all of their mistakes”.

Go light your inner fire my dear dragons!

  1. I think that’s why I got into writing poetry–the connection I felt when reading others’ poems. It resonates within. I don’t get that very often when reading a novel. In a novel, I get lost in the writer’s world. In a poem, I find parts of myself.
