So, today I am really excited about this book I will be reviewing. It is also part of the same series that Before Midnight, and the book I will review on Friday come from. The best part about this series is you can read them in any order you like, and let me tell you when I stumbled upon this one, I may have let out a little yell of excitement. The Diamond Secret by Suzanne Weyn, is a retelling of Anastasia Romanov’s story!
The book description was taken from the Goodreads website:
“Nadya is a mischievous kitchen girl in a Russian tavern. Having nearly drowned in the Iset River during the turmoil of the Revolution, she has no memory of her past and longs for the life she cannot remember. Then two young men arrive at the tavern and announce that Nadya’s long-lost grandmother has sent them to find her. Yearning for family and friendship, she agrees to accompany them to Paris for the joyful reunion. Nadya eagerly embarks on her journey, never dreaming it will be one of laughter, love…and betrayal.”
You all know how I feel about anything Anastasia Romanov, and let me tell you this book was not a disappointment. The journey that Nadya goes on with the two young men she meets in the tavern she works, is full of action, fun, and adventure. This book is full of twist and turns which will leave you with goosebumps. What Suzanne does with this story is takes the reader down a road of what if, and takes you on a journey with Nadya, as she finds out who she really is.
I laughed, and cried in some parts but it was a good cry. I couldn’t put this book down, and loved every minute of it. The way Suzanne describes the scenery and the characters you will feel like you are traveling right beside them. This story will leave you wanting more and will have you thinking what if.
Go on a journey to the past with Nadya as she finds out who she is readers!
