The Burning Shadow Review

Happy Monday Readers!

I hope everyone had an amazing weekend! It’s hard to believe that this is the last week of November and Thanksgiving is in a couple of days. Each year just seems to go by faster and faster. Today I am going to be reviewing the second book in the Origin series, The Burning Shadow by Jennifer L. Armentrout.

The book description comes from the Goodreads website:

“When Evelyn Dasher crossed paths with Luc, she was thrown headfirst into the world of the Lux—only to discover that she was already far more involved in their world than she ever suspected.

Because the Luxen aren’t the only ones with a hidden past. There’s a gap in Evie’s memory, lost months of her life and a lingering sense that something happened, something she can’t remember and nobody is willing to tell her. She needs to find out the truth about who she is—and who she was. But every answer she finds only brings up more questions.

Her search for the truth brings her ever closer to Luc, the Origin at the center of it all. He’s powerful, arrogant, inhumanly beautiful, extremely dangerous…and possibly in love with her. But even as Evie falls for him, she can’t help but wonder if his attraction is to her, or to the memory of a girl who no longer exists.

And all the while, a new threat looms: reports of a flu-like, fatal virus that the government insists is being spread by Luxen. A horrifying illness that changes whoever it touches, spreading panic across a country already at its breaking point.
#1 New York Times, USA Today, and internationally bestselling author Jennifer L. Armentrout returns to the world of the Lux with this steamy, shocking second installment of the Origin series that will leave readers reeling.”

This second installment to the series continues Evie’s journey on who she really is. Of course she has Luc by her side, but she still has a long rough journey ahead. When a virus starts affecting humans, and the Luxen are blamed, Evie and Luc go on a dangerous adventure to discover the truth behind the virus, and along the way Evie discovers more about who she really is. Evie has faced danger before, but can she escape it again or will the truth finally be what destroyers her?

What I love about Jennifer’s writing is her uncanny ability to bring the reader into the story, and make you not want to leave the Luxen world until the very end. She knows how to make you laugh, cry, and play with your emotions in the best way. This book will deliver bomb shell after bomb shell that you won’t be able to see coming. It has an ending that will leave you speechless and screaming for more. I honestly don’t know how I am going to make it a year for the next book in the series to be released. If you love aliens and just an all out good read, you need to pick this book up as soon as you read the first one!

Go on a journey of danger and self discovery my dear readers!
