Break Your Glass Slippers Review

Hey Everyone!

I am back, and I must admit that I really missed this blog, but I got everything I needed to in a more manageable state, and I have come back fresh! Today I bring you a book of poetry that moved me emotionally and that I connected with on a personal level. Break Your Glass Slippers by Amanda Lovelace, takes the fairytale we grew up with and puts a more real world spin on it!

The book description comes from the Goodreads website:

“amanda lovelace, the bestselling & award-winning author of the “women are some kind of magic” poetry series, presents a new companion series, “you are your own fairy tale” the first installment, break your glass slippers, is about overcoming those who don’t see your worth, even if that person is sometimes yourself. in the epic tale of your life, you are the most important character while everyone is but a forgotten footnote. even the prince.”

I love Amanda’s poetry ever since I read her first book, and I have gotten every book she released since. I will let you know there are triggers in this book, so please read with caution. Every time I finish reading poetry by Amanda, I feel empowered, loved, and like I can forgive the things that I have been holding onto from my past. It is like her poetry speaks to me on an emotional and mental level. She takes the stories that we knew as children and puts a more real world spin on them. Her writing is raw, emotional, and touching. If you love poetry, you need to pick up this amazing book as soon as possible!

Here is one of her poems from the book, that I really loved “fairy godmother says”:

“you deserve so much more

than you’ve been given,

So don’t you dare forget

to tend to yourself.

take time to sweep your corners,

dust off your bookshelves,

shake out your rugs,

& make your windows shine.

create a safe space

for yourself to go when

it feels like the whole world

has turned against you.

it’s the only thing you’ll ever truly

be able to count on.”

Let Amanda take you on a journey of self discovery and forgiveness my dear readers!
