Happy Monday Everyone!
I hope you are all fairing well in these times of isolation, and I hope that ya’ll are all able to escape the craziness of this world by relaxing with a good book. I know I have definitely been trying to read more and do things that help me relax and not stress. Any who, today I bring you a book that made me laugh, cry, scream, and just made me an emotional mess in a good way. The Happy Ever After Playlist by Abby Jimenez had me hooked from the very first page, and I devoured it in three days!
The book description comes from the Goodreads website:
“From the USA Today bestselling author of The Friend Zone comes an adorable and fresh romantic comedy about one trouble-making dog who brings together two perfect strangers.
Two years after losing her fiancé, Sloan Monroe still can’t seem to get her life back on track. But one trouble-making pup with a “take me home” look in his eyes is about to change everything. With her new pet by her side, Sloan finally starts to feel more like herself. Then, after weeks of unanswered texts, Tucker’s owner reaches out. He’s a musician on tour in Australia. And bottom line: He wants Tucker back.
Well, Sloan’s not about to give up her dog without a fight. But what if this Jason guy really loves Tucker? As their flirty texts turn into long calls, Sloan can’t deny a connection. Jason is hot and nice and funny. There’s no telling what could happen when they meet in person. The question is: With his music career on the rise, how long will Jason really stick around? And is it possible for Sloan to survive another heartbreak?”
To me I saw so much of myself in Sloan that I instantly connected with her character, although I have not experienced the loss she did, I found that some of her quirks were exactly the same as mine. Jason, was a very sweet and complicated man, who manages to break Sloan out of her emotional distress and bring her back into the real world. What I loved most about this story, is that Abby brings you a tale of romance and heartbreak, that is so much like the real world, that you instantly relate to the story. Even if you have never dated a rock star, you could probably find some piece of you within this book.
I laughed, I cried, I snort laughed, and for the majority of the book, I had the biggest grin on my face. Plus, Tucker is like the cutest wing man, and I love dogs, so this was just icing on the cake for me. Abby has created a hauntingly beautiful romance that will open your eyes to just how much emotional grief can take out of you. To me this was one of the best books I could have chose to read to help me with this whole virus thing going on. If you want a romance that will make you fall in love and break your heart, than you need to read this book as soon as possible!
Go on a journey with two characters tying to live their lives and be together in a complicated situation my friends!
