Coming Up Roses Review

Hey BookWorms!

So, today I bring you a review of a book that once I read that it was a slight retelling of Pride and Prejudice, I knew I had to have this book. I have expressed my love for Pride and Prejudice, which you all know if I see a book that says anything with a retelling of it, I have to grab it if the description sounds fun! Coming Up Roses by Staci Hart, takes the world of the Bennet’s and basically makes them boys, except one sister.

The book description comes from the Goodreads website:

“Everyone hates parts of their job.

Maybe it’s the paperwork. Maybe it’s the day-to-day grind. Maybe it’s that client who never knows what they want, or the guy who always cooks fish in the microwave.

But not me. I love every corner of the Longbourne Flower Shop, every flower, every petal, every stem. I love the greenhouse, and I love Mrs. Bennet, my boss. I love creating, and I love being a florist. I don’t hate anything at all.

Except for Luke Bennet.

The Bennet brothers have come home to help their mom save the flower shop, and Luke is at the helm. His smile tells a tale of lust, loose and easy. He moves with the grace of a predator, feral and wild. A thing unbridled, without rules or constraint.

When he comes home to save Longbourne, I almost can’t be mad at him.

He doesn’t remember that night I’ll never forget. That kiss, touched with whiskey and fire. It branded me like a red-hot iron. But it meant nothing to him.

Everyone hates part of their job, and I hate Luke Bennet.
Because if I don’t, I’ll fall in love with him.”

I don’t want to give too much away, but lets just say that when I was reading this book, I could easily connect these characters to the ones I love from Pride and Prejudice. Staci created such an amazing, fun loving, romantic story, and again I can’t believe I am just now discovering this amazing author. This story made me so excited, because although the names are different, they were close to the original characters, that I could figure out who was supposed to be who. This story made me laugh, cry, and just giddy when I found the essence of my beloved Pride and Prejudice characters. Plus when it’s told from Two POVs it makes it even better. I highly recommend anyone who loves Pride and Prejudice, and romance stories to not let this amazing book pass you by!
