Warrior of the Wild Review

Hey Readers!

Today I decided to do a review on a book that I absolutely loved, and I finished it on my way back from Switzerland! Warrior of the Wild by Tricia Levenseller, is one girls journey to prove to her family and village that she is stronger than they believe. This book sucks you in from the very first page.

The book description was taken from the Goodreads website:

“How do you kill a god?

As her father’s chosen heir, eighteen-year-old Rasmira has trained her whole life to become a warrior and lead her village. But when her coming-of-age trial is sabotaged and she fails the test, her father banishes her to the monster-filled wilderness with an impossible quest: To win back her honor, she must kill the oppressive god who claims tribute from the villages each year—or die trying.”

Rasmira thought she knew where her place in the village was, and knew she could beat her coming of age trial. However, during the trial Rasmira is betrayed, and the one person who witnessed the betrayal chooses not to say anything. Rasmira believes that her father will give her a task that will be easy to complete, however when she is tasked with killing a God, she learns the truth. When she is banished into the wild, she meets two guys from a different village who where banished for failing their trials as well. At first Rasmira doesn’t trust them, but as she gets to know them, she figures out that they will need to rely on each other to complete their quests. However as time goes on Rasmira has to figure out if she even wants to return to the village or live in the wilderness forever. Will Rasmira defeat the God and return to her village or will she decide to live in the wilderness forever?

What I loved about this story is Tricia’s uncanny ability to draw the reader into the story, and have you make a connection with the characters. This book had me laughing, crying, and my heart pumping to see how it was going to end. You will be rooting for Rasmira to find her place in the world, and you will be crying right along with her at the betrayal. You won’t see the ending coming, which makes it even more interesting. I loved the way Tricia created the different villages, the woods, and the God’s lair. The writing is so descriptive that you will believe you are really in the woods with the characters. This book will leave you wanting more and will stay with you a long time after you read it.
